Karuna Trust

The Karuna Trust (originally called “Aid for India”) was established in 1980 by a group of Western Buddhists to provide funding and support to people from very poor slum dwelling communities in India. Many were Dalits (previously known as ‘untouchables’), who had converted to Buddhism to forge a new identity outside the traditional Hindu caste system.

The Trust has built on these links and made connections with other marginalized groups throughout India, as well as in Bangladesh, Nepal and Tibet. You can see all the work the Trust undertakes on the Karuna site map.

ChocolateTin.com donates $10 of every $100 of its earnings to the Karuna Trust (10%).  We hope you help this charity’s commitment, on behalf of the billions of people adversely affected by poverty.

Before you leave this page, we ask you view the following video by Dean Kamen to understand why we make this commitment, and hope that in turn it will help you make your own commitment to these people.
